Market notes: start of year thoughts

What we do know is that 2019 is going to be a fascinating year, in which we will finally discover how the great Brexit saga (maybe I should say soap opera) is going to play out. We will also find out whether the decade-long bull market in almost everything, from shares to art to classic cars, has ended, as many are arguing, or whether it is going to be extended past what American baseball fans call the seventh innings. While I am not in the business of predictions, I do have some expectations and working assumptions, which implicitly assign some probabilities to different outcomes. You have to do that in order to make decisions about allocating your money.
